A newly formed partnership between Tersan Shipyard and GE Power Conversion will see the latter deliver its power and propulsion, dynamic positioning and vessel control systems for two offshore wind farm construction service operation vessels (CSOV) being built for Acta Marine.

Upon completion, each of the next-generation CSOVs will be dual-fuel ready and capable of running on methanol and marine diesel/hydrogenated vegetable oil (MDO/HVO). The vessels will also utilize and benefit from GE Power Conversion’s SeaGreen battery energy storage and electric propulsion system to reduce carbon emissions.

Each of the vessels will be used to conduct maintenance and support the construction and commissioning of offshore wind farms.

Under the supply contract, GE Power Conversion will deliver its power-dense SeaPulse LV3 portfolio of converters that are used in propulsion, thruster drive and energy storage roles. GE will also provide its SeaStream dynamic positioning (DP) system.

“Acta Marine is leading the way in ultra-high operational efficiency with the unique Ulstein SX216 Twin X-Stern design from Ulstein Design & Solutions AS,” said Peter Oram, UK sales and commercial director at GE Power Conversion. “GE is delighted to be selected as a major supplier for these first-of-class vessels, and to contribute its expertise in energy-efficient power and control systems.”
