The Compound Semiconductor Applications (CSA) Catapult in the UK has released a pivotal white paper advocating for the adoption of vertical GaN technology in high-voltage power electronics.

By focusing on GaN-on-GaN devices, which conduct current through the device’s thickness, the report argues for reduced defect density, enhanced thermal management, and superior voltage capabilities. The technology promises not just efficiency improvements but also smaller, more reliable systems vital for net-zero infrastructure.
