Final year student is Dawn Foods’ UK and Ireland 2024 Student Ambassador
Lucy Liszewski, Dawn Foods’ 2024 student ambassador.
As part of an ongoing partnership with University College Birmingham to support young people entering the bakery industry, Dawn Foods UK and Ireland has appointed Lucy Liszewski as its 2024 Student Ambassador.
A final year student on the University College’s Bakery and Patisserie Technology degree, 22 year old Lucy will be working with Dawn’s application chef, Robin Loud, to create new recipes using Dawn’s products, as well as blogs and insights to be featured on the company’s website, trade press and social media platforms.
Liszewski, who comes from a family of keen home bakers, says she is inspired by Mary Berry and is a lover of Gordon Ramsey’s desserts. Using seasonal produce and trying to be as sustainable as possible in her baking are important. As for trends, she is excited by Japanese and Korean influences emerging in bakery and is looking to experiment with ingredients such as Matcha and Yuzu in her creations at Dawn.
“I am delighted to have been selected as Dawn Foods’ Student Ambassador for 2024. The opportunity will not only give me practical experience and the chance to get creative with new ideas but invaluable insight into how my university studies can be applied in the world of commercial bakery. I’m particularly interested in finding out more about NPD as a possible future career path,” Liszewski says.
Jacqui Passmore, marketing lead West EU & AMEAP at Dawn Foods notes that the partnership between Dawn and University College Birmingham is now in its sixth year – and a great success story.
“We can tap into new ideas from the next generation of bakers – we are really excited about Lucy’s interest in Asian flavour influences in bakery for example – which not only helps with our own product development but enables us to pass on inspirational insight to our customers too,” Passmore says. “In turn, students really benefit from working with our development chef and seeing how we bring commercial bakery ingredients to market.”
