Fennex accelerates growth amid new contact wins

Published:  23 March, 2022

Fennex, an energy technology specialist, says it is continuing its growth campaign following recent contract wins worth over £250,000 with personnel increases and entry into new markets.

Providing solutions for the energy sector to accelerate digital transformation, the Aberdeen company has seen year-on-year growth since it was established in 2016. The Fennex team designs, builds and implements solutions to digitise, automate and transform critical industry processes.

Project wins over the last six months include an integration solution to support the rig start up for a major new offshore project off the coast of Mexico, the first for Fennex in the region. The company also recently developed a bespoke extreme weather software solution for a major drilling contractor in the Gulf of Mexico. The company’s policy assurance and safety solutions are now operational across 65 global assets.

To support the increase in demand for its services, Fennex has increased its specialist software team by 40% over the last two years, bringing its headcount to 12. Recognising the need to support the next generation of AI and tech specialists, the company also has a programme of graduate placements with six students given the opportunity to gain vital sector experience.

Adrian Brown, founder and managing director of Fennex, comments: “Having spent time leading global energy projects, I could see the value of developing digital solutions to directly address challenges the sector faces, automating often laborious processes to ultimately make projects run more smoothly and give far greater visibility.

“We’re proud to have grown a loyal customer base that is seeing the benefit of tech adoption, which has been critical for their businesses during the challenges of the last two years. Our approach to problem solving allowed clients to engage their global workforces and have more visibility over their operations as the sector adapted to new ways of working.

“We have developed a passionate and talented team which gives us the ability to further reach new markets and clients as we continue to accelerate our expansion.”

The company was recognised at last week’s SPE Aberdeen Offshore Achievement Awards as it was presented with the Digital Innovation accolade for its work with Noble Corporation Plc. The company delivered its Behaviour Based Safety Solution (BBSS) to combine safety observations from digital and physical entry points into an online environment. This software saved the client 15,000 man-hours by automating a traditional safety card system and increased reporting and workforce engagement by 30%.

Nassima Brown, director of strategy at Fennex adds: “Winning the Digital Innovation award is a very proud moment for our team. It brightens the future outlook not just for our business, but for the tech companies that are working so hard to drive a digital shift in the energy sector. It recognises the difference that can be made when a solution not only makes operations more efficient but also ultimately improves safety.”
