AMPECO and Autel Europe have completed OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol) 2.0.1 testing, enabling load balancing and dynamic charging profiles for charge point operators (CPOs) to optimise energy distribution across multiple charging points.
AMPECO, a Bulgaria-based EV charging management software developer, and Autel Europe, a Munich-based provider of EV charging solutions, completed the testing between Autel’s MaxiCharger DH480 and AMPECO’s EV charging management platform.
According to the partners in a release, the achievement provides CPOs with enhanced operational control, improved security, and advanced energy management capabilities that will be needed for scaling modern EV charging networks across Europe.
Part of the integration’s benefits, state the companies, includes sophisticated load balancing and dynamic charging profiles.
This allows CPOs to optimise energy distribution across multiple charging points, which will support the management of peak demand periods and will reduce operational costs through enhanced utilisation of the charging station.

Commenting in a release was Glenn L’Heveder, head of sales and business development Europe at AMPECO: “The integration with Autel Europe demonstrates AMPECO’s commitment to providing CPOs with best-in-class hardware integration options.
“OCPP 2.0.1 represents a significant leap forward in charging infrastructure capabilities, and our successful integration with the MaxiCharger DH480 ensures that CPOs can confidently deploy these advanced features.”
According to the companies, the integration testing validated critical functionalities including secure communication protocols, remote session management, and smart charging profile compatibility.
Specifically, the validation process focused on secure communication with Level 2 TLS encryption and basic authentication, remote session management capabilities, and smart charging profiles compatibility for advanced load management and grid-responsive charging strategies.
Load management and the power grid
As EV charging networks continue to expand in Europe, implications abound for grid operators and their management of peak power demand.
In a January blog post by AMPECO’s Teodora Hristov, the company’s technical marketing expert cites research from the IEA, which highlights that electrical infrastructure upgrades are not keeping pace with the rapid rollout of EV charging networks.
This discrepancy then creates challenges for CPOs who look to scale their networks to meet growing demand for EV charging. Balancing limited site power capacity while supporting multiple charging stations then becomes a significant challenge.
Additionally, says Hristov, CPOs are often focused on the fast expansion of their charging networks, particularly in areas with high demand. However, existing grid capacity limitations can lead to prolonged negotiations with local utilities and power companies.
This is where the company pitches their software, a load management solution for charging stations, they say can:
- Prevent grid overload by monitoring and adjusting real-time energy consumption.
- Distribute power among all connected chargers for balancing purposes.
- Mitigate peak usage challenges by temporarily limiting the charging speed at stations or pausing sessions during peak hours.
Autel’s MaxiCharger DH480
Also in January, Autel Energy Europe launched and installed their DH480 heavy duty charging tech in partnership with Orange energy, with its debut at the Groen Goud Biervliet, Netherlands.
The charger, says Autel, features the latest in EV charging technology, including Intelligent Matrix technology, which allows the Power Module to be flexibly configured, distributing the load across multiple modules according to specific charging demand.

The company describes it as an all-in-one DC charging solution designed for high-demand environments such as highway corridors, commercial depots, and public charging hubs.
The tech has support for up to four simultaneous charging outputs and enables operators to charge multiple vehicles at once – optimising energy distribution and reducing queue times during peak hours.
On the technology’s integration with AMPECO’s software, Andreas Lastei, vice president of sales and marketing at Autel Europe said: “This collaboration reflects our ongoing commitment to open standards and practical, interoperable solutions that make it easier for charge point operators to scale their networks with confidence.
“By working closely with trusted software partners like AMPECO, we aim to accelerate the development of reliable and future-oriented EV charging infrastructure across Europe.”
