EST-Floattech’s Octopus series battery system type approved for maritime use
Classification societies Bureau Veritas and Lloyd’s Register have awarded EST-Floattech’s Octopus series battery system with type approval for maritime applications. The first marine projects using the company’s energy storage system are currently being delivered.
To gain approval, EST-Floattech subjected its maritime Octopus series battery system to a demanding test program that was witnessed by Lloyd’s Register and Bureau Veritas to ensure the ESS complied with the latest standards and regulations for the industry. Both Lloyd’s Register and Bureau Veritas subsequently approved EST-Floattech’s tests and granted type approval, certifying that the system meets their standards in terms of safety and performance.
Lloyd’s Register issued type approval on April 17, 2023, followed by Bureau Veritas on May 8, 2023.
“We are glad that our ‘safe by design’ mentality has been recognized through this Lloyd’s Register and Bureau Veritas type approval for maritime battery systems,” said Diederick Stam, CTO at EST-Floattech. “This achievement reinforces our commitment to providing the safest and most reliable battery systems to the maritime industry.”
