Essemtec Wins 2024 Mexico Technology Award for Excellence in Dispensing Technology
Essemtec has announced that its New Spider High-Speed Solder Paste Jetting System has won this year’s prestigious Mexico Technology Award in the Dispensing category. The award was presented during a ceremony on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at SMTA Guadalajara in Mexico.
The 2025 Spider High-Speed Dispenser represents a groundbreaking advancement in precision and versatility within the industry. Its cutting-edge design accommodates a broad spectrum of dispensing applications, including solder paste, SMT glue, LED encapsulation, silver epoxy, dam and fill, cavity fill, and 3D dispensing through laser height mapping. The Spider supports up to two valves simultaneously and offers compatibility with five different valve types, making it adaptable to various application requirements. This flexibility, combined with advanced laser height mapping for dispensing in cavities and at varying Z-levels, establishes the Spider as a leader in precision dispensing technology. Additionally, the Spider can be equipped with the new I2S (Integrated Inspection System), which provides comprehensive quality inspection of dispensed fluids with full traceability. The system also features an automated repair function to efficiently address any dispensing issues, optimizing yield and minimizing scrap.
The Spider achieves unprecedented dispensing speeds with its Piezo Jet Valve and Dynamic Shockwave Valve, both capable of over 720,000 dots per hour. Recent upgrades to the Spider enable solder paste jetting to achieve an average of 260,000 dots per hour on a board and surpass 400,000 dots per hour on a BGA pattern. These advancements are attributed to an improved controller, new software upgrades, and enhancements to Essemtec’s Jet-on-the-Fly solution. This remarkable speed boost significantly enhances production efficiency, allowing manufacturers to meet high-volume demands without sacrificing accuracy or quality. For solder paste jetting, the 2025 Spider can complement or, in some cases, replace traditional screen printers.
Essemtec is committed to sustainability and promoting a circular economy by ensuring that customers can upgrade their existing equipment with the latest controller and software releases. This approach allows users to benefit from the most recent advancements in dispensing technology without needing to replace their entire system. By offering such upgrades, Essemtec supports long-term investment and reduces electronic waste, reflecting a strong commitment to both innovation and environmental responsibility. The Spider’s capability to dispense dots, lines, curves, and interpolated 3D contours further refines the dispensing process, ensuring rapid and precise application. With a placement accuracy of 40 μm (3σ) in the XY plane, the Spider ensures adequate precision in dispensing applications. Its mineral cast construction reduces vibration and thermal drift, maintaining consistent performance and quality. The Spider’s advanced laser height mapping technology compensates for substrate warpage, enabling accurate dispensing in cavities, at different Z-levels, and for 3D contours.
“We are honored to receive this award, which recognizes the dedication and innovation of our team in developing cutting-edge solutions for the electronics manufacturing industry,” said Enrique Gomez, Business Development Mexico, of Essemtec. “The 2024 Mexico Technology Award highlights our leadership and innovation in dispensing technology and underscores the impact of our Jet-on-the-Fly solution in enhancing throughput and offering significant versatility compared to traditional stencil printing.”
