Enel and ESA to accelerate green innovation using space data
A new partnership has been formed in Italy by utility Enel, the municipality of Genoa and the European Space Agency (EAS) to support innovation of green technologies using space data.
The three parties will develop space-based solutions for application within the blue economy, smart mobility and green port and infrastructure development sectors.
The aim is to promote sustainability, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve the lives of citizens through the use of smart and sustainable technologies.
Enel, the municipality of Genoa and ESA will contribute their expertise and resources to make the partnership a success.

Various projects including the optimisation of renewable energy using space data will be implemented as part of the agreement with the municipality of Genoa acting as the pilot city.
Nicola Lanzetta, director of Enel Italia, said: “The company is strongly committed to the development of renewable energy sources and is always looking for new environmentally friendly technologies.
