The Endless backed protein manufacturer has been renamed Karnova Food Group, bringing together red meat specialist, Yorkshire Premier Meat (YPM) and poultry specialist, Smithfield Murray.

Brought together in 2023 to create a major UK force in business-to-business protein supply, Karnova has revenues of over £120 million and services customers with a flexible multi-protein supply of value-add product. With sites in South Kirkby, near Doncaster and Trafford Park, in Manchester, the group employs over 250 people.

The new Karnova name has been developed from the Latin words for “meat” and “newness” to demonstrate a fresh and innovative protein company and will sit above the existing YPM and Smithfield Murray brands which are being retained in recognition of their strong heritage and reputations.

Paul Peachey, CEO of Karnova said: “The bringing together of YPM and Smithfield Murray under one group name, Karnova, is another exciting and important step in the organisation’s ambitious growth plans, which will see further organic growth – investing more in our sites, our people, our processes and new technologies – together with further acquisitions.”
