Actemium has rebranded its Peterborough-based automation business — previously Eltek Systems — and completed its relocation to a larger facility at Axis Park, marking a decisive expansion step for the UK division of the global industrial engineering group. The shift consolidates the company’s systems integration, control panel manufacturing, and electrical installation activities under the Actemium banner five years after its acquisition.
Eltek Systems, founded in 1983 and long established as a supplier to food and beverage manufacturers, became part of Actemium in 2020 but continued to trade under its legacy name. The formal adoption of the Actemium brand aligns the business with the wider UK network of 20 locations and 635 staff, and the global organisation of more than 440 specialist business units. For customers in sectors such as food and beverage, automotive, water, and process industries, the consolidation creates a clearer interface with Actemium’s wider engineering and delivery capabilities.
Speaking at the unveiling of the new premises, Rob Shaw, Perimeter Director at Actemium, said: “It has been a privilege to watch Eltek Systems evolve over the past five years, expanding its capabilities, strengthening its reputation, and building closer collaboration with sister companies across the Actemium network. Transitioning under the Actemium banner is a natural next step in this journey. By leveraging Actemium’s UK-wide and global scale and innovation expertise, Actemium Automation Peterborough is perfectly positioned for continued growth — delivering benefits for its employees, the local community, and the wider Actemium group.”
The relocation from Oundle to Peterborough provides the business with a significantly larger workshop for the design and build of complex control systems, alongside expanded office and meeting space to support project delivery. For a business serving customers such as PepsiCo and McCain Foods, the increased floor area supports higher-volume panel assembly and more flexible testing capacity as automation demand continues to rise across food processing and wider manufacturing.
Simon Robson, Business Unit General Manager, said the new site is designed to support both operational efficiency and recruitment. “Our new facility provides the space and environment our team needs to work more effectively, while enabling us to collaborate seamlessly with customers and suppliers,” he said. “In addition, our proximity to Peterborough gives us access to a broader talent pool, which is essential for supporting our continued growth.”
He added that adopting the Actemium name makes the business easier to navigate for customers working across multiple process, electrical, and automation disciplines. “By joining the Actemium family, we’re making it easier for customers to recognise and access the extensive resources of the global Actemium network. The quality and responsiveness of our service, and our entrepreneurial spirit that customers know and recognise us for, will remain at the heart of all we do.”
The move comes as UK manufacturers continue to expand investment in automation to address labour shortages, modernise legacy systems, and improve throughput. With higher demand for system integration, control architecture upgrades, and electrical installation, Actemium Automation Peterborough’s expanded footprint provides the additional engineering capacity required for upcoming projects.
