Electronics Engineers Get More Technical Resources from Gluespec
Gluespec® is announcing new resources for engineers who need advanced materials. The engineering website has published five new selection guides with technical information about electronic component adhesives, electrically conductive adhesives, thermal adhesives, conformal coatings, and pottants and encapsulants. Each of the guides includes an audio summary, embedded videos, and answers to frequently asked questions (FAQs).
The new selection guides complement Gluespec’s comprehensive and quality-tested database of 35,000 materials. Engineers can search by application, industry, or supplier and use advanced features to sort and filter data in a dynamic, online grid with a spreadsheet-like interface. Built with SpecEngine® technology, the Gluespec Grid makes it easy to compare products based on key specifications. Users can also save custom grids for future use and share them with colleagues.
“We’re making it easier than ever for electronics engineers to find and compare the adhesive materials they need,” said Lance Schneider, Gluespec’s Business Manager. “The Grid puts all of the technical data right one place, and our selection guides deliver added value for users who have questions about specifications, or just need help getting started.”
For example, Gluespec’s Electronic Component Adhesives Guide explains what engineers need to consider when selecting adhesives for printed circuit boards (PCBs), amplifiers, coils, connectors, sensors, and chip on board (COB) designs. The guide also covers wire tacking and ruggedizing adhesives. Along with audio, video, and FAQ content, electronics engineers can find overviews, comparisons, examples, specifications, and end-use applications.
The other new guides also provide detailed information. For example, the Electrically Conductive Adhesives Guide compares two leading product chemistries, epoxy and silicone, and the advantages and disadvantages of heat cure and two-component systems. The Thermal Adhesives Guide divides products into liquid, film, and tape adhesives and explains where these thermal management solutions are used, such as in EV batteries, automotive electronics, and avionics.
The Potting and Encapsulating Materials Guide spans 13 product categories and explains how to search for liquids and gels that protect PCBs and their components against hazards that can cause electronics to fail. Gluespec has also published a Conformal Coatings Guide about thin, protective polymeric coatings that can be used instead of pottants and encapsulants. Within each of the new selection guides, users can also find links to additional resources in the Gluespec Knowledge Center.
