ECD to Unveil High Channel Count M.O.L.E. EV-Series Touchscreen Thermal Profilers at IPC APEX Expo 2024
M.O.L.E.™ EV20 and M.O.L.E. EV12 Profilers Make North American Debut, SmartDRY Gets Even Smarter with Improved Efficiency
ECD has announced that it has developed its third touchscreen M.O.L.E.™ EV-series product – the M.O.L.E. EV12 – and will unveil it from booth #1225 at IPC APEX Expo 2024. This model follows the 20-channel M.O.L.E. EV20, launched in late 2023 and now making its North American debut, and the inaugural groundbreaking M.O.L.E. EV6, which revolutionized the profiling segment as the market’s first touchscreen thermal profiler. With these additions, ECD’s touch control EV-series technologies satisfy the range of thermal measurements required for any PCB assembly – from simple SMT to complex, high-density designs.
Filling the gap between six- and 20-channel capability, the brand-new 12-channel M.O.L.E. EV12 bridges this data point collection divide for certain applications – like nine-measurement oven surveys, for example. M.O.L.E. EV12 will serve as ECD’s foundation technology for new soldering equipment verification pallet development. Unique among ultra-high channel count data loggers, the thin design of the 20-channel M.O.L.E. EV20 has maintained a thermal barrier thickness and width that complies with all reflow oven clearances. This feature saves valuable setup and production time, allowing complex profiles to be completed in a single run. All M.O.L.E. EVs have Bluetooth® wireless connectivity capability, USB C charging, an off-the-shelf battery, simple two-button on/off and record control, and built-in maintenance reminders.
As ECD Electronics Division Manager Mark Waterman explains, intuitive interfaces, streamlined operator training, and maximized productivity are difference-makers in industrial settings, and the company’s product development initiatives align with these objectives. “Integrating a full-color touchscreen into M.O.L.E. thermal profilers has dramatically improved solder process profile efficiency, which translates into higher yield and profitability,” says Waterman. “With M.O.L.E. EV-series profilers, calculation templates, configuration, profile optimization, and pass/fail analysis are managed on the line – no PC download is required. Observing profiles in real time is a game-changer. There is no delay between data viewing and implementing any needed corrective actions.”
ECD will also display its SmartDRY™ Intelligent Dry Storage product range at IPC APEX Expo. Recently enhanced with modernized drying mechanisms, SmartDRY has integrated constant active drying for greater cabinet relative humidity (RH) efficiency and a wider safety margin. SmartDRY’s ultra-fast recovery time of under three minutes allows frequent J-STD-033-compliant access to moisture-sensitive devices. These features, combined with SmartDRY’s sleek design, unique interior lighting for visual confirmation of status, and network connectivity capability, have made the desiccant cabinets the preferred solution for high-value device protection.
