Once again this year, leading packaging manufacturer, Durham Box, has been working closely with its chosen local charity, Feeding Families, donating large quantities of boxes and dump bins, designed and printed free of charge.

The charity helps families in the Sunderland, Newcastle, County Durham, Northumberland and Teesside areas who are experiencing food poverty. In support, they have created a strategic model to provide food to those in need, working with experts who deal with poverty issues. This partnership allows these professionals to focus on their expertise, while Feeding Families ensures that food is available to those in need.

Durham Box’s involvement with the charity began in 2017 with a food project for Christmas; since then their role has expanded significantly with the provision of emergency food boxes for the Feeding Families’ year-round programme. So far in 2023, Durham Box has provided an impressive array of resources, including 4,000 welcome home boxes, 28,500 standard boxes, 1,500 collection bins, 300 toppers and 12,000 Christmas boxes. These donations have allowed Feeding Families to deliver emergency food boxes across 12 local authorities, providing 346,731 meals valued at £330,220.

Commenting on the significance of Durham Box’s contribution, Juliet Sanders, CEO of Feeding Families, said: ”Durham Box’s support has been the backbone of our operations. Their commitment from our early days to the present has been a shining example of how the business community can positively impact local charities.”

Dan Morris, Durham Box’s managing director, added: “We are delighted to be supporting Feeding Families again this year. Recognising the hardships faced by many families in the region,

especially in these challenging times, we feel privileged to contribute in a meaningful way through our donations. We believe it’s essential to stand with those in need, and we’re committed to making a positive impact in the fight against food poverty.”

Based in County Durham, Durham Box is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of corrugated packaging, servicing large-scale accounts across multiple markets, particularly within the FMCG sector. In June 2023, the Logson Group, the UK’s largest independent supplier of corrugated packaging, acquired a majority shareholding in Durham Box.
