Danone adds Skyr to its product range

Danone launches its first Skyr, with three times more protein than a yogurt, 0.0% fat, no added sugars and a creamy texture.

This development is inspired by the Skyr that Danone launched in France last year and which has become the brand’s first contributor to growth in the French market.

Danone said the NPD has had an adaptation process of eight months with the aim of adapting to the sensory characteristics of the Spanish market.

Since 2016, and throughout Europe, the consumption of products high in protein has skyrocketed by almost 10%. To satisfy all those consumers who consider protein an indispensable part of a healthy diet.

Skyr is a dairy of Icelandic origin, denser than yogurt and that, thanks to its high protein intake and is considered a safe bet for the brand. According to Kantar’s study on consumer preferences when choosing a Skyr, 21% buy it for its creamy texture, also 21% do it for having 0% fat and 19% because it has more protein than a yogurt.

To publicise the launch of Danone’s new Skyr and the versatility of the product, the brand has collaborated with different influencers known for their recipes and family lifestyle such as Alma_Cupcakes, TwoGayPapas, Candela Pérez, Marta Verona, Fátima Canto and Carmen Estefano, who have shared on social networks healthy and easy recipes to combat the heat of this summer.
