Cambridge, UK-headquartered CyanConnode reports being India’s first smart meter supplier to reach the 2 million communication endpoint milestone.

CyanConnode counts successful implementations in ten states – Assam, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

Among these is a rollout with Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO), for which the company has been awarded the SKOCH consulting group’s gold award in the power and energy category.

“We are immensely proud of these milestones, which are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team,” commented Ajoy Rajani, Executive Vice Chairman of CyanConnode.

“The deployment of over 2 million communication endpoints and TANGEDCO’s SKOCH Award win underscore our leadership in the smart metering space and our commitment to supporting India’s energy management initiatives.”

CyanConnode provides narrowband radio frequency (RF) smart mesh networks.

The 2 million communication endpoint milestone corresponds to a doubling of endpoints over the past two years from 1 million in July 2022, when the company reported delivering over 99% service level agreements.

In the case of the TANGEDCO project, the over 99% billing and smart metering communication rates was acknowledged as having led to accelerated invoicing, reduced errors and improved customer satisfaction through timely billing.

The implementation was also recognised as having optimised operations, reduced carbon emissions, increased revenue and streamlined manpower.

India is currently undertaking a 250 million nationwide smart meter rollout, with almost 13 million units installed to date.

According to the latest data 222.5 million smart meters have been sanctioned by the Indian government, of which 117.7 million have been awarded.
