Cathedral City launches first flavoured plant-based soft cheese
Cathedral City has expanded its ‘Our Plant Based’ range by releasing a Spring Onion and Cracked Black Pepper alternative to soft cheese.
Cathedral City has once again brought its knowledge and expertise to the plant-based market with a brand-new spreadable format. Already launched in Tesco from 29th May, the soft cheese alternative with moreish tasty spring onion and punchy black pepper, will be available in up to 332 stores across the country.
Soft cheese is the fourth most in-demand format in the category after block, sliced and grated. As sales of plant-based soft cheese continue to grow year-on-year, Cathedral City says it is bringing an original and unique soft cheese alternative to the market.

Cathedral City Our Plant Based launched in September last year and is now has the third highest volume market share, according to IRI. Cathedral City Our Plant Based, also available in block, sliced and grated formats, is already a hit with consumers and connoisseurs alike. In 2022, the block-based NPD won a coveted Plant Based Taste Award and the brand is seeing strong repeat sales across the range.
Plant-based alternatives to cheese are now worth £58.6m (source: Kantar) and bought by 8.3% of UK households (source: Kantar). Saputo Dairy UK’s Cathedral City brand is valued at over £295m (source: IRI) and bought by 43% of all UK households (source: Kantar).
