Capital Ship Management takes delivery of LNG-ready tanker with sustainable notations
A new-build eco-type chemical/product medium range (MR) tanker, built by Hyundai Vietnam Shipyard, has been delivered to Capital Ship Management. The vessel is stated to be the first tanker to be given Wind-Assisted Ready and High Voltage Shore Connection-Ready (HVSC) notations by ABS.
Named the Alkiviadis, the vessel is the first in a series of six LNG-fuel ready vessels which will be delivered to Capital in 2023. The HVSC-Ready notation from ABS outlines vessels which are ready for High Voltage Shore Connection systems to be installed at a later date, while the Wind-Assist Ready notation denotes vessels which can be equipped with wind-assist solutions for sustainable propulsion in the future.

Due to its future-proof design, the M/T Alkiviadis complies with EEDI Phase 3 and is also annotated with ABS SUSTAIN-1 (2020), which demonstrates the vessel’s adherence to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Furthermore, the MR tanker is Tier III compliant due to its reduced NOx emissions.
