Budenheim builds new facility dedicated to infant and medical nutrition

Budenheim, a global speciality chemicals company with production sites in Germany, China, Mexico, USA, Spain, and the Netherlands, has started construction of a “House of Nutrition.” It is a 45 Mio EUR investment, located at its German site in a 5,400 m2 new production area.

Initially, the House of Nutrition will start with the production of high-purity micronutrients, which include high-purity calcium, iron, and magnesium phosphates, as well as other functional solutions for infant and medical nutrition, and nutraceuticals. The facility will meet the highest hygienic standards and the strictest requirements of the industry. It will provide several packaging options, including strippable bags, boxes, and valve bags. In the new facility, Budenheim will also expand its offering with new dry- blending grades and further functional solutions.

“House of Nutrition is a substantial investment that strengthens our mission of providing specialty solutions for nutrition, health, safety, and preservation of resources”, comments Dr Stefan Lihl, Budenheim’s chief executive officer.

Already today, Budenheim offers high-quality solutions for the infant nutrition and nutraceutical industries with the leading brands PureMin and CAFOS. According to Jorge Flores, senior vice president, Business Unit Food Ingredients: “With this investment, we will be ready to accompany the growth of our global customer base within the cluster Nutrition, which is a strategic pillar of our business.”

The construction of the House of Nutrition is underway and on schedule. The start of production is planned to start in less than 12 months, while the ingredients for dry-blending applications are expected to be in the market in early 2023.
