British cherries win for taste, freshness and support for farmers

Research from Driscoll’s has revealed 91% of Brits prefer British cherries, also valuing taste and freshness (89%) and supporting local farmers (76%).

According to the berries’ seller, demand is increasing for several reasons including:

  • Superior quality: UK growers meet strict quality standards, ensuring cherries with excellent taste, texture, and appearance.

Driscoll’s British cherries come from Berry Gardens Growers, with orchards spread across the country – including Herefordshire, Kent, Kincardineshire, Norfolk, Perthshire, Staffordshire and Worcestershire.

Driscoll’s Cherry Grower Sarah Neaves noted with the peak of this year’s British cherry season here, the team at Little Sharsted Farm in Kent can supply large, dark red, juicy cherries this summer.

“Cherries have gained popularity due to their impressive health benefits, versatility, and convenience as a snack, complemented by their seasonal appeal, making them a favourite among health-conscious consumers and food enthusiasts alike,” Neaves said.
