Brazil transmission system operator (TSO) Eletrobras and C3 AI, an enterprise AI application software company, are scaling up the use of C3 AI’s Grid Intelligence tech for real-time fault monitoring and resolution across all of Eletrobras’ operations centres.
After a successful initial deployment of the C3 AI Grid Intelligence application across 10 substations in 2024, Eletrobras is now scaling the solution across all its transmission assets as part of the Eletro.ia programme.
The utility is also using C3 Generative AI to streamline operational reporting, freeing operators to focus on higher-impact tasks.
Built on the C3 Agentic AI Platform, C3 AI says its Grid Intelligence gives operators real-time context, accelerates fault response, and improves grid stability and compliance.
In the event of power outages, C3 AI Grid Intelligence identifies alarms and cluster faults, determines affected equipment and substations, and prompts decision-making intelligence to mitigate issues in less than 10 seconds — a process that could previously take several minutes to hours.

Commenting in a release was Lucas Pinz, director of innovation and technology, Eletrobras: “In 2024, Eletrobras launched a programme called Eletro.ia with the goal of applying AI at scale across the entire company. Through this programme, Eletrobras is leveraging cutting-edge AI and data solutions to unlock efficiencies across our network and better serve our customers throughout Brazil.”
Said Pablo Flores, executive manager of Protection, Automation, and Control of Operation Systems, Eletrobras: “C3 AI’s ability to support a real-time operations centre with an operations-ready platform and end-user focused solutions was core to our decision to partner with C3 AI.
“Eletrobras is modernising critical network monitoring processes, allowing us to effectively and quickly respond to incidents to ensure grid stability and availability.”
Thomas M. Siebel, chairman and CEO of C3 AI, says that global energy expansion and resilience remain a primary focus for his company.
Said Siebel: “Our work with Eletrobras reinforces C3 AI’s position as the trusted Enterprise AI provider for critical infrastructure and highlights the power of our platform in delivering operational transformation across the global energy sector.”
Electrobras is the largest company in the electrical sector in Latin America. The company has 38.49% of the total transmission lines of the National Interconnected System in Brazil in its basic network.
Electrobras is also the largest Brazilian electric power generation company, with generating capacity equivalent to 22% of the country’s total installed capacity. Approximately 97% of their installed capacity comes from sources with low greenhouse gas emissions.
