Bakkavor receives top accolade for fourth consecutive year

Bakkavor has been voted the overall winner in the ‘Top Consumer Goods & FMCG companies’ by TheJobCrowd for the fourth year running. Bakkavor also was awarded top spot for its graduate programme in the career progression category.

TheJobCrowd’s annual rankings are significant and unique in the industry because it is the UK’s only graduate and apprentice employer ranking system based on employee feedback.

Bakkavor’s apprenticeship roles stand out because they provide “real responsibility” from day one, contributing to key business activities and projects, while also allowing for time to study towards a nationally recognised qualification.

Apprentices can also develop valuable life skills through involvement in local community and charity initiatives, including visiting schools as apprentice ambassadors. If the apprenticeship is completed successfully candidates are guaranteed a permanent role in the business.

In line with Bakkavor’s growth strategy in early careers, the business is on track to recruit 70 new apprentices this year, with a major focus on engineering roles.

Bakkavor says it continues to in invest in its graduate programme, which is fully subscribed for this autumn, and next month the business will also welcome 17 undergraduate placements across its UK sites.

Donna-Maria Lee, chief people officer at Bakkavor, noted that the apprenticeship programme has been celebrated by apprentices themselves in the annual TheJobCrowd awards.

“At any given time, Bakkavor has around 300 apprentices working across a wide range of disciplines in the UK and we are proud of how successful Bakkavor has become in helping a new generation to develop life skills, with many apprentices and graduates staying with us to develop exciting long-term careers,” Lee said.
