A West Midlands manufacturer, Avanti, is celebrating its 45th anniversary with a notable increase in sales and the acquisition of new machinery. Founded in Lye with a showroom in Birmingham, Avanti has defied the retail sector’s downturn to achieve a 10% rise in revenue over the past year.
This growth is attributed to Avanti’s ability to produce distinctive designs and significant investment in its five showrooms across the Black Country, Streetly, and Solihull, including its flagship location in Brierley Hill. “We’ve just completed our 75,000th installation, which is a fitting way to celebrate 45 years,” said Lee Capewell, Managing Director of Avanti. He noted the sector’s challenges, including economic recessions and the COVID-19 pandemic, which altered consumer purchasing habits.
Capewell emphasised Avanti’s resilience, crediting the brand’s local strength and in-house manufacturing at its Lye factory. This local production allows Avanti to maintain quality control and expedite delivery times, offering installations at twice the speed of competitors. Looking ahead, Avanti has approved a £250,000 investment plan to upgrade its Solihull showroom and install a new beam saw to enhance production speed by 2026.
Avanti is synonymous with the Black Country’s values of trust and personal service, reflected in its dedicated workforce of 60 employees, including nine who have served over 25 years, and factory manager Ian Simpson, who has been with the company for over 40 years. Capewell highlighted Avanti’s distinct approach, evident in the 2025 refurbishment of its Level Street showroom, which prioritised spacious displays over quantity, receiving positive consumer feedback.
The company aims to use its 45th anniversary to strengthen its sustainability commitment, a decade-long endeavour supported by a £250,000 investment in waste management, achieving near-zero landfill impact. New measures are being implemented to reach 100% recycling of waste, including cardboard, plastic, and vinyl. “We aim to deliver top-quality products with superior customer service, ensuring our consumers purchase some of the UK’s most sustainable kitchens, bedrooms, and bathrooms,” Capewell concluded.
