Alpla Group, a global leader in packaging solutions, is fortifying its foothold in the Balkan region, targeting the burgeoning beverage sector. The acquisition of Energoplast’s production facility in Belgrade marks a significant step in Alpla’s strategic expansion, enhancing its capability to deliver comprehensive plastic packaging solutions.
By acquiring the Serbian closure manufacturer, Alpla bolsters its production and range of high-quality closures, integrating further into the South-East European supply chain. Known for offering complete packaging solutions — from bottles and containers to closures — Alpla is now positioned as a more stable and flexible partner for beverage manufacturers in the region.
Energoplast’s portfolio, featuring PE closures for the beverage industry through both compression and injection moulding, is set to benefit from Alpla’s technological prowess. Alpla will absorb Energoplast’s personnel, production lines, and existing clientele, ensuring seamless continuity for current customers. Miroslav Micković, Alpla Serbia’s general manager, stated, “Energoplast’s high-quality portfolio is the perfect addition to our business in the Serbian market… This will enable us to secure supplies for our customers and provide them with immediate added value and strategic advantages in the long term.”
The 2,000 square metre facility in Belgrade becomes a pivotal element of Alpla’s regional operations, joining its existing network which includes four plants in Serbia and three others in Croatia and Slovenia. Rainer Widmar, Alpla’s managing director for Central and Eastern Europe, noted, “With this strategic move, ALPLA is strengthening its presence in South-East Europe, promoting regional value creation and enabling it to meet growing demand in a targeted manner.”
This strategic expansion is set to benefit both local and international beverage manufacturers with high-quality closure solutions and reduced delivery times. The move underscores Alpla’s commitment to providing reliable, end-to-end packaging services in the food and beverage sector.
Michael Feltes, managing director of the ALPLAinject division, articulated the company’s vision: “We want to fully leverage our strengths as a system provider and score points with innovative solutions. This enables us to provide first-class, reliable service from design to complete packaging.”
