Accu-Assembly Inc. Wins 2023 Mexico Technology Award for Innovative AccuLiFT SMT Component Reel Storage/Retrieval System

Accu-Assembly Inc., a leading industrial automation company, is pleased to announce that it was honored with a 2023 Mexico Technology Award in the category of Storage Systems. The award was announced at a ceremony that took place Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2023 during the SMTA Guadalajara Expo in Mexico. The company’s groundbreaking AccuLiFT SMT Component Reel Vertical Modular Storage and Retrieval System was selected for the award. With quick and easy changeover, the AccuLiFT’s flexible reel configuration enables small and large reels to be interchanged on each storage pallet as reel storage requirements change.

Automation is a key design feature of the AccuLiFT. Using a robotic workcell to automatically load/unload reels from reel stacking units, there is no longer a need for an operator to manually load reels or reel pallets into the storage unit. Throughput is maximized with fast cycle times and accuracy.

Accu-Assembly’s AccuLiFT system redefines the landscape of SMT component reel storage and retrieval, setting new benchmarks for efficiency and adaptability. With a focus on swift changeover and user-friendly operation, the AccuLiFT empowers manufacturers to seamlessly interchange small and large reels on any storage pallet, thereby enhancing operational flexibility like never before.

The AccuLiFT’s base unit alone boasts the capacity to store up to an impressive 3,900 7” reels. And with the option to integrate two additional vertical storage units, this storage capacity skyrockets to an astonishing 8,400 reels. The reels rest on meticulously crafted pallets, constructed with a robust steel frame and ESD plastic trays, ensuring both durability and protection.

What sets the AccuLiFT apart is its utilization of VLM (Vertical Lift Module) technology – a proven and reliable method for efficient parts storage and retrieval. Moreover, the modular design of the AccuLiFT system means it can seamlessly expand vertically, maximizing floor space as manufacturers require additional reel storage. The system’s Direct Drive Technology with auto correction eliminates the need for calibration, streamlining operation further.

One of the standout features of the AccuLiFT system is its automated dual-level operator reel loading/unloading station. This innovation allows the loading and unloading of reels to occur simultaneously, reducing cycle times and boosting efficiency. The system also integrates automatic barcode scanning of all reels on the pallet and automatic reel thickness detection, enhancing accuracy and reliability. The AccuLiFT also boasts standard multiple job sorting capability, delivering faster kitting processes.

Optional features of the AccuLiFT system include the capability to print and place UID labels on component reels, as well as seamless interfacing with X-Ray component counters. These advanced features contribute to the AccuLiFT’s comprehensive approach to meeting the diverse needs of modern electronics manufacturing.

Accu-Assembly Inc. is renowned in the industry for its unwavering commitment to quality assembly products, especially for pick-and-place systems. At the core of the company’s excellence lies its proficiency in software development and interfacing with various databases. The AccuLiFT system demonstrates this expertise through its flexible software interface, facilitating seamless integration with SMT placement equipment and MES/ERP systems.
