Michael Allen Earns 27th U.S. Patent

Michael Allen, president and co-owner of Z-AXIS and its Bear Power Supplies business unit, has earned a 27th U.S. patent for his electronic design and manufacturing inventions. Except for his second patent, which Z-AXIS owns, all of Allen’s patents are owned by the company’s customers. Z-AXIS assigned these 26 patents without requesting or receiving payment, a testament to the company’s commitment to its customers’ success.
“I am proud of helping so many customers on so many different projects,” Allen said. “Z-AXIS supports a wide variety of electronic design and manufacturing projects, as the full list of patents shows.”
Michael Allen’s first patent was for an electronic circuit in a glaucoma detector that’s helped prevent vision loss in thousands of patients. His patent for the original Bear power supply was followed by U.S. patents for various commercial and military laser marking systems. Allen also holds patents for an ultrasonic device for root canal cleaning and is listed on a patent for data security on a wearable device.
A graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), Allen holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He began his Z-AXIS career in October 1989 as Director of Engineering and later launched the Bear Power Supplies business unit. This year, Allen has published an article about rugged power supplies in Electronic Design and been interviewed for the New York State Manufacturing Now podcast.
