Andreas Guth appointed Eurogas secretary general

Andreas Guth, Eurogas policy director, has taken over as secretary general of the association effective September 1.

Guth, who has led Eurogas’s policy team for the last five years, has a lifetime of experience with policy development, including working with the European renewable ethanol association, ePure, and prior to that the non-listed real estate investment association Inrev.

“I am honoured to have been appointed Secretary General of Eurogas,” commented Guth on his election to the role.

“The gas sector plays a pivotal role in the energy transition, as it undergoes its own transformation towards a more renewable and low-carbon future. I am excited to work with our members to ensure that Eurogas plays its part in driving this process forward.”

Guth takes over from James Watson as the outgoing secretary general, who was in the role for five years.

Commenting that Watson’s outstanding leadership has been pivotal to Eurogas’ success and noting gratitude for his dedication, Eurogas president Cristian Signoretto, director Global Gas & LNG Portfolio and deputy COO Natural Resources at Eni, expressed confidence that Guth will continue to build on this strong foundation.

“I address my warmest wishes to Andreas for his appointment as Secretary General. His vast expertise will drive forward Eurogas’ mission in such a strategic moment for the gas sector.”

Eurogas is the association representing the gaseous fuels sector in Europe, with over 100 members across the gas sector value chain, including renewable and low-carbon gases, their derivatives and carbon capture utilisation and storage.

Signoretto was elected president of Eurogas in May, with a two-year term of office.

He follows Didier Holleaux, executive VP at Engie, who stepped down after three years in the role.

With the EC’s decarbonised gas regulation on the integration of electricity and gas, Eurogas is set to play a key role alongside the other associations representing gas DSOs in integrating these DSOs within the DSO Entity as the sole DSO organisation with responsibility for network codes alongside its TSO counterparts.
