WINT partners with HSB to bring AI-based water tech

WINT Water Intelligence recently announced a partnership with Hartford Steam Boiler (‘HSB’), a specialist insurer. This collaboration merges WINT’s leading AI-based water management technology with HSB’s expertise in IoT technology and OEM uptime warranty solutions, offering businesses a comprehensive solution to safeguard against water leak damage.

A study by Munich Re revealed that locations equipped with WINT significantly reduce both the frequency and severity of water damage incidents: sites with WINT installed reported 73% fewer insurance claims and experienced 90% lower payouts compared to unprotected sites.

This partnership underscores HSB’s dedication to its clients and its confidence in WINT’s proven AI-driven systems. By integrating the latest technologies, the partnership enhances HSB’s exclusive ecosystem of top-tier commercial IoT solutions.

“Water leaks are a major point of pain across the real estate and construction industry. Water management technology and insurance are complementary two sides of the same coin – solutions that mitigate damage while reducing the real-estate industry’s environmental footprint,” said Alon Geva, CEO, WINT. “We’re excited to partner with HSB-Munich Re to solve these challenges.”

As part of the partnership, HSB will distribute WINT’s AI-based water management solutions to its customers, complementing HSB’s current leak-sensor offerings. Additionally, WINT provides a performance warranty for its technology, backed by HSB, covering up to £200,000 in damages in the unlikely event of a leak occurring in a pipe monitored by WINT, as per the warranty details. Introduced in 2023, this performance warranty for builders’ risk programmes aims to mitigate the escalating costs of water damage claims in commercial properties and construction sites, including new buildings, renovations, and large retrofit projects.

“Effective water management is increasingly important as the risks and costs of water damage rise,” added John B. Riggs, Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President of Applied Technology Solutions for HSB. “We’re glad to offer our customers WINT’s reliable, scalable solution to help them meet the ongoing challenges of protecting their investments and addressing water sustainability.”

Designed by Meshify, HSB’s IoT subsidiary, the Defender™ Sensors provide 24/7 monitoring for water leaks and temperature extremes in retail, healthcare, education, and other facilities. With access to WINT systems, HSB’s customers can now monitor water flow and automatically shut off leaks during and after construction projects and ongoing operations.

WINT provides contractors, developers, owners, and facility management teams with a state-of-the-art solution for managing water throughout a building’s lifecycle, from construction to operation.

The WINT platform features automated leak mitigation with real-time detection and automatic water supply shut-down in accordance with policy; exceptional anomaly detection and analytics powered by advanced AI algorithms; and enterprise-grade management for large and mid-sized facilities. WINT is used globally by customers including the Empire State Building, Microsoft, HP, PepsiCo, Mace Construction, CBRE, and many other leading enterprises, general contractors, and facility owners.
