Celebrity backed Cano Water expands retail offering into Ocado
Cano Water, the world’s first canned water brand, is now stocked in online grocery retailer, Ocado.
Cano Water’s still and sparkling cans are available to shop in boxes of 24, priced at £16.00, providing a more sustainable option than purchasing single-use plastic water bottles – as well as a healthier alternative to sparkling sodas and flavoured drinks.
On a mission to save 1 billion plastic bottles from landfill by 2030, the brand has captured the attention of multiple celebrity investors including Ricky Gervais and Jess Glynn, as well as other stars like Daniel Craig, Dua Lipa and Ed Sheeran who have been spotted enjoying the water.
Cano Water’s packaging is made of aluminium including 62% recycled material, making each can infinitely recyclable – so the same aluminium could be back on shelves in as little as 60 days. The listing with Ocado comes as new studies have revealed the presence of nanoplastics in plastic bottled water, marking another reason for consumers to shift their buying habits away from single-use plastics.
Cano Water was originally founded in 2015 by three friends in London. After travelling to Thailand and witnessing the large volumes of plastic polluting the country’s beaches – many of which were from water brands they recognised in the UK – Josh White, Perry Alexander, and Ariel Booker set out to develop an accessible and convenient solution to the plastic problem. Now, the brand is backed by a variety of celebrity investors including Ricky Gervais and Jess Glynn, and enjoyed by stars like Daniel Craig, Dua Lipa and Ed Sheeran.
Also available to purchase across various distribution points such as Selfridge’s, Tesco, and Amazon, Cano Water has gained a cult following with over 50 million cans sold across the UK.
Josh White, co-founder of Cano Water, said: “Cano Water started from an idea to help fight plastic pollution with an innovative and convenient product that people would actually want to buy instead of their regular bottle of water. We’re thrilled to be expanding our retail offering with Ocado, offering even more people across the UK the chance to make the switch to canned water.”
