PPMA Show 2023: Ishida solutions to meet cost of living challenges
The convergence of innovation and automation has paved the way for Ishida Europe to showcase three key products from the company’s weighing and inspection portfolio.
The machines on display – the recently-launched next generation CCW-AS multihead weigher, the proven Fresh Food Weigher (FFW) and the advanced entry-level IX-EN X-ray inspection system – all demonstrate Ishida’s ability to help the industry tackle the tests the world of food production is facing as food prices continue to surge, compelling consumers to prioritise affordability without compromising on quality.
Alongside these challenges, ensuring operational efficiency remains a constant struggle, encompassing concerns about production staffing and waste control. The need for cutting-edge automation has never been more urgent, not only to address current hurdles but also to secure long-term efficiency and success.
The CCW-AS range, launched in 2022, delivers significant increases in productivity, enhanced hygienic design and maximum profitability in highly competitive markets. The AS weigher offers the highest weighing performance to further increase overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), particularly for more challenging applications. At the same time, it delivers a 20 per cent reduction in energy consumption compared to previous models whilst noise levels have also been further reduced.
The 6-head Ishida FFW enables sticky and bruise-sensitive fresh products to be accurately weighed and packed at maximum speed and efficiency. The weigher receives product to the top of the weigher, where operators evenly distribute it via belt feeders to the weigh hoppers. The ergonomic design makes it easy to spread out products on the feeder table, and the belt feeders facilitate a precise and consistent product feed to the hoppers. Features such as scraper hopper gates, ribbed surfaces and scraper gates on the collection belt conveyors minimise product sticking.
The Ishida IX-EN-4093-S X-ray inspection system offers manufactures an affordable but highly accurate entry-level solution, delivering unrivalled foreign body detection and quality control. The machine can spot a large variety of contaminants such as aluminium, tin, glass, stone, hard rubber, dense plastic, Teflon, PVC, bones and shells at high inspection speeds.
The IX-EN range incorporate the company’s advanced genetic algorithm (GA) technology that enables operators to optimise individual models for greater sensitivity to specific foreign bodies. As well contaminants, the IX-EN-4093-S can also identify damaged and missing products or components.
“Ishida solutions are your ultimate partner in overcoming production challenges,” said Paul Hitchin, general sales manager of Ishida Europe. “Our cutting-edge products are engineered to drive efficiency, maximise profits and ensure uncompromising quality. At the PPMA Show, visitors to our stand will be able to experience the future of weighing and inspection firsthand.”
