Avalue and ASIX collaboration on TSN solutions boosts next-gen IIoT
Avalue Technology, a global industrial PC solution provider and a Titanium member of the Intel Internet of Things Solutions Alliance, has announced its strategic partnership with industrial Ethernet chipmaker ASIX Electronics, jointly launching TSN (time-sensitive networking) solutions for IIoT, which combine Avalue’s industrial-grade SLP-WHG-TSN PCs with ASIX’s AXM57104 TSN PCIe ultra-high-speed Ethernet card. By closing the gap existing in traditional industrial communication, Avalue and ASIX’s TSN solutions realise real-time seamless data streaming with information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT) convergence, making them suitable for rail transportation, industrial control, industrial automation and power supply which rely particularly on signal reliability and timeliness, and IIoT applications which depend on data sharing between tens of thousands of sensors and operation precision. Propelling the industrial networking market, the collaboration between Avalue and ASIX continue to accelerate the convergence of IIoT, stretching its resilience and reliability.
“With mass deployment and execution of automated Internet devices on the edge and cloud, and increasingly greater flexibility and digitalisation of work processes, not only do we need to seamlessly converge previously isolated IT and OT, we must also ensure the two systems are synchronised, accurate and reliable, and able to prioritise time-critical data flow. This involves profound and specialised industry knowledge,” said Kevin Lien, Avalue Technology Vice President. “With Avalue and ASIX’s TSN solutions, low latency enables high-accuracy synchronisation in the operations of Internet devices, which is very important in applications such as real-time transmission of accurate signals, commands and images, offering customers in sectors such as factory automation and remote healthcare more accurate, cost-effective and reliable services.”
TSN solutions jointly developed by Avalue and ASIX integrate industrial-grade SLP-WHG-TSN with AXM57104 4-port TSN PCIe ultra-high-speed Ethernet card. Supporting AXM57104 TSN software source codes, AXM57104’s built-in FPGA enables IAP (in-application programming) updating, ensuring that firmware is updated to the latest TSN standards. The key value of system integration lies in the strength of R&D expertise. Capitalising on its extensive and professional experience in system integration optimisation and platform software/hardware/firmware development in the field of industrial automation, Avalue continuously communicates with its strategic partner ASIX and implements stringent verifications while directing tremendous R&D resources to RT-Linus development environment, adjustment to operating system environment such as Linux, and continuous improvement to accurate BIOS settings, allowing the jointly developed TSN solutions to achieve optimal performance. When customers are able to implement TSN industrial Ethernet quickly and perfectly, it will greatly reduce their implementation cost and shorten their project development time, propelling next-gen industrial automation.
TSN solutions jointly developed by Avalue and ASIX enables real-time high-speed operations with high resilience and reliability. The resulting synergy of Avalue and ASIX’s TSN solutions is even more impressive when used in smart manufacturing or IIoT where data security and smart operating performance are equally critical. By integrating and gathering data, including electricity/temperature/hazardous substances, from environmental sensors located in production sites, detecting overall system operation and health status, implementing timely and appropriate measures, and enabling technologies such as digital twins, collaborative robots and smart building, Industry 5.0 – the next step in the evolution of manufacturing, will be better leveraged.
