Differential Refractive Index detector delivers outstanding GPC/SEC results #Engineering #TESTA #AnalyticalDifferential #RefractiveIndex #Detector
Operating from room temperature up to 80° C, with high thermal stability, the TESTA Analytical Differential Refractive Index (DRI) detector offers highly accurate and reliable determination of absolute concentration and total mass balance in GPC/SEC applications.
DRI detectors are the most commonly used GPC/SEC detectors because of their universal applicability; they do not require chromophores to be present in the analyte. As such, they find wide application for determination of polymer concentration but also very frequently are used for the detection of a wide range of macromolecules.
Professor Slawomir Kadlubowski of the Lodz University of Technology, Poland said “The baseline signal stability of any GPC/SEC detector is particularly important, as it is a limiting factor in peak determination. We invested in a TESTA Analytical DRI detector for our polymer research because it is the best match for our MALS detector to obtain absolute molecular weights. The wavelength of the two detectors is exactly the same which give us great confidence in the Debye constant used as the concentration obtained via the DRI is determined at the correct dn/dc of the sample, no assumptions needed.”
Continuing Professor Kadlubowski commented “The TESTA DRI detector’s outstanding stability is vital for our high-resolution GPC/SEC applications especially when several columns are utilized which often results in long chromatographic separation times of up to one hour. Our researchers have also appreciated the broad media compatibility of the DRI detector, and its built-in automatic cell-safety shut off capability that eliminates the possibility of the GPC/SEC flow cell bursting in the case of a blockage”.
