Kongsberg Digital signs agreement with another oil major

Published:  27 April, 2022

After a successful delivery of Kongsberg Digitals digital twin solution Kognitwin on two assets, one of the world’s largest energy corporations is now expanding its contract, adding four more assets.

Hege Skryseth, President of Kongsberg Digital said: “We are very pleased with the expansion of our contract with this energy major and is strong show of confidence in our ability to deliver value at scale. The expansion of four more assets demonstrates the power and potential of Kognitwin to transform the oil and gas sector. This industry is constantly seeking new ways to make their operations more efficient, safer, and more sustainable. In the race towards NetZero, our digital twin will be an important contributor.”

Kognitwin is Kongsberg Digital’s digital twin Software-as-a-Service platform that enables operators to integrate and contextualise data from their IT and OT systems and enable advanced process and flow simulation to drive higher degrees of asset performance and collaboration. Kognitwin enables a wide range of energy facilities to derive value from data to reimagine how we work in the heavy asset industry.

The new contract comes after a successful implementation of two assets in 2021. With four further assets now in development, Skryseth looks forward to further close collaboration.

“Kognitwin supports the wide-scale digital transformation of the energy industry with a focus on shaping the future of work for a better tomorrow. The addition of four more assets will increase the benefits in efficiency and scale sustainability in their operations”, Skryseth adds.

Shane McArdle, SVP Digital Energy in Kongsberg Digital, says that there is shift within the energy industry regarding digitalization, the use of data and digital twins.

“We see that the energy industry is shifting from a nice-to-have to a must-have when it comes to the need and use of a digital twin. Decisions need to be anchored in a source of truth and transparency, and for the industry, a large part of that truth is driven by data and access to data. Real-time insights continues to be a challenge in the industry, highlighting the need for digital twin solutions that provide strong data foundations, help build industry data standards, and reimage the way we work.” McArdle says.
