Juki wins two NPI Awards & celebrates 60th industry award

Juki Automation Systems (JAS), Inc., a world-leading provider of automated assembly products and systems and subsidiary of Juki Corporation, is pleased to announce that it received two 2022 CIRCUITS ASSEMBLY NPI Awards. The company was awarded in the categories of Component Placement – Multi-function for the JM-50 and Component Storage for the new ISM UltraFlex 3600S. The awards were announced during a special online ceremony on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2022.

Carlos Eijansantos, Juki’s Sales Manager, commented: “We at Juki are gratified to receive these NPI Awards. Over the last 20 years, Juki has now received more than 60 awards for innovative products and excellence in design.  We are pleased that our many customers can benefit greatly from our continued success in bringing them products that increase their productivity and result in outstanding ROIs.”

The new JM-50 utilizes Juki’s advanced TAKUMI placement head. This head automatically adjusts its height to provide the optimal speed and component handling at the same time. It can pick with up to four nozzles at the same time.

Laser and vision inspection allows the JM-50 to inspect the leads and the body of a component and a lead correction unit straightens and corrects bent leads. Multiple nozzle types are available, including vacuum, axial, gripper and mini chuck, and the system can handle radial, axial, stick, bowl, tray and SMT tape feeders. Additionally, the new MVF feeder enables the JM-50 to handle bulk components in a smaller, cheaper, and more flexible way than typical bulk feeding systems.

The new ISM UltraFlex 3600S changes the game in automated component storage.  The unit is a new benchmark in the electronic component storage market, pushing performances beyond current possibilities, allowing the user to reconfigure the unit as their needs change.  The 3600S is faster and more efficient than the previous model at extracting and returning reels. It has a new robotic arm and can store up to 3600 reels in single cases.

The system is field retrofittable, meaning customers with the current ISM 3600 can upgrade their machines to the ISM 3600S. The 3600S shares the patented “kit pulling” feature of all ESSEGI ISM units.  Rather than delivering one reel at a time, it delivers a stack of components, allowing the full kit to be pulled.

This patented design allows the user complete flexibility, while still offering the advantages of automatic kit pulling, automatic putting away of kits after production, and complete Moisture Sensitive Device traceability.

Introduced in 2008, the NPI Awards program is an annual celebration of product excellence in electronics surface mount assembly. Premier products based on the finest examples of creative advancement in technology are chosen by a distinguished panel of industry experts.
