DISTRIBUTECH International has announced the conference sessions for its 2022 event that is scheduled for January 26-28 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas, Texas.

The conference will be side by side with POWERGEN International and aims to bring together global energy transmission and distribution market stakeholders to network, share knowledge and solve problems with utilities, product and service providers.

Discussions will focus on grid modernisation, electric vehicles, energy storage, next-generation utility business cases, smart cities, the Internet of Things, and resiliency planning and preparation.

Grid modernisation

The grid modernisation track will focus on how utilities can improve grid operations through automation, monitoring, control and optimisation. Technologies such as advanced distribution management systems (ADMS), advanced metering infrastructure, microgrids and more will be discussed as tools that utilities can deploy as the grid evolves to meet existing and future challenges.

Sessions in the grid modernisation track include:

Next-generation utility cases

The track explores changes and innovations in grid operations, market models, and regulations that will influence the utility of the future and help determine its future marketplace success.

Sessions in the track include:

Resiliency and planning

This track focuses on challenges, success stories, and lessons learned in the high-stakes task of identifying areas with a high risk for failure through the use of tools such as visual inspection, satellites, drones and lidar, then analyzing data and creating plans to mitigate those risks.

Sessions in the track include:

Smart cities and IoT

Sessions will consider technologies and trends that will allow utilities to operate effectively in the interconnected world of smart cities that is being created through IoT. Presenters will offer their views on how the confluence of power, communications and transportation electrification contributes to energy and environmental security, resiliency and sustainability.

Sessions in the track include:

Keynote speakers will include:

Rick Perry

Rick Perry, former US Secretary of Energy and Governor of Texas.

On January 27, from 8:30 am to 10:00am CT, Perry will provide his insights on the current and emerging energy markets and how the energy sector should be positioning itself to achieve both a smooth and robust energy transition.

Allen Nye
